Hello from Rebecca, Rodney, and our family! In 2019, we made the big move from the Wairarapa to Christchurch to manage Cranford Cottages and Motel, bringing our three kids (ages 9-13) along for the adventure. After selling our house, we embraced this change of pace, and we’ve loved every minute of it. We’re passionate about meeting guests from all over the country—and even the world—and hearing their unique stories. Our aim is to create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where you feel right at home. Whether you’re here for a night or a longer stay, we make sure Cranford Cottages feels like a home away from home. <h3>Payment</h3>Payment Policy Confirmation Credit card detail is required at the time of confirming the Accommodation. Why Book Direct? If paying by cash a bond will be collected for the duration of your stay. Confirmed Numbers Guaranteed minimum numbers of people staying is required fourteen (14) days prior and final numbers are required two (2) working days prior to a arrival date for accommodation. Charges will be based on the number of people for accommodation or the guaranteed number, which ever is greater. Disruptive Guests Guests that are do not co-operate with management may be asked to leave at short notice if they are disruptive to other guests or management Price Variations All prices are current at the time of quotation, and every endeavor is made to maintain prices, but they are subject to alteration, particularly when bookings are made well in advance. Insurance Organisers are financially responsible for any damage/loss sustained to Complex Property by the client, any of the client guests, invitees or other persons. Whilst the Complex will take all the necessary care, it accepts no responsibility for damage or loss of property left in the Motel prior to, during or after your stay. You are also responsible for the room key. If you lose your key you then become responsible for any cost involved in replacing the lock and new key. Packages If you are sending any packages, parcels or equipment to the Motel prior to your arrival please notify us in advance. The Complex will not be responsible for packages, parcels or equipment that arrives without prior notification. All packages, parcels or equipment must be Payment Credit facilities may be available on the completion and approval of a credit application form. This form is to be completed and approved at least seven (7) days prior . UNAUTHORISED EXTRAS: Unless otherwise instructed in writing, the client will be liable for all charges for telephone calls or other services incurred by the client or his agents during the course of there stay. Rooms We reserve the right to reallocate rooms due to circumstances beyond our control. If final numbers increase or decrease significantly from those advised at the time of reservation, we may substitute a more appropriate room of our choice. We will discuss any changes with you when the decision is made. Responsibility Should we be unable to provide facilities reserved due to circumstances beyond our control, we will endeavor to provide you with reasonable notice. Health and Safety The client shall take all practicable steps to comply with the provisions of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and all other Health and Safety legislation which has or does come into force for any period of the contract. The client will ensure that all its guests or any other person shall comply with the requirements listed above. All prices listed included GST (Goods and Services Tax) Security and Liability Guests, once checked-in, become liable for the security of themselves, their possessions, their vehicles and the contents of the chalet. To prevent theft, please remember to lock it up!<h3>Cancellation</h3>Cancellation Policy Cancellation All cancellations must be in writing. Cancellations within 48 hours (2 days) of the booking may be subject to a cancellation fee. The cancellation fee will be at the Motel Management’s discretion. Smoking Policy All units are strictly “no smoking” and in fairness to future guests, if you need to smoke please do so outside the unit. There are ashtrays situated outside for your convenience. Excessive Cleaning Fee We reserve the right to charge up to $300 to restore the room to the same clean condition prior to use. This will be charged to the registered guest<h3>Pet Policy</h3>🐾 In-House Dog Policy 🐾 Welcome to our pet-friendly motel! To ensure a pleasant stay for all our guests, we kindly ask that you adhere to the following policy when bringing your dog: Leash Requirement: All dogs must be kept on a leash when outside your room or in any public areas of the motel. This helps ensure the safety and comfort of all our guests and their pets. No Unattended Pets: For the safety and well-being of your dog, please do not leave them unattended in your room. If you need to step out, we ask that you take your dog with you. Cleaning Up: Please be responsible for cleaning up after your dog. Waste disposal stations are available on the premises for your convenience. Keeping the property clean is a priority for everyone’s comfort. Control at All Times: Dogs must remain under the control of their owners at all times. This includes preventing excessive barking or any behavior that may disturb other guests. Charges for Damage: Any damage caused by your dog to the room, furniture, or property will result in additional charges. We ask that you take care to prevent any accidents or damage during your stay. Pet Surcharge: A one-time $15 surcharge will apply to cover additional cleaning and maintenance costs associated with your pet's stay. Our motel studios are self-contained and well equipped, offering everything you need for a convienent and easy stay, including full kitchen facilities and parking close to your unit.

Please note:  Our studios offer a more traditional self-contained layout with a private verandah for outdoor seating.  They do not include a private garden setting or outdoor spa, which features are exclusive to our cottages accommodation. 


Motel Studio - Comfortable and Practical Stay

Our One Bedroom Apartments offer spacious, fully self-contained accommodation, with a seperate bedroom and living area, ideal for longer stays, families or guests wanting extra room and independence in Christchurch.

Each apartment includes a full kitchen making it easy to self-cater during your stay along with a comfortable, traditional layout designed for practicality and convience. 

These apartments are set in a mix of upstairs and ground-level configurations, with some offering a balcony and others provide direct access with parking located coneniently outside.

All apartments include free Wifi, off street parking, and everything needed for a comfortable and independant stay.  


One Bedroom Apartment

Our Standard Cottages – Full Kitchen offer a fully self-contained, open-plan accommodation option designed for guests who value independence and the convenience of full cooking facilities during their stay.

Each cottage includes a full kitchen, comfortable living and sleeping space, and a private, individually gated outdoor area, providing a practical and flexible stay experience.

Ideal for longer stays, work trips, or guests who prefer the ability to prepare their own meals, these cottages offer a straightforward and comfortable base with added space and privacy.

Standard Cottage

Our Superior Cottages offer a spacoius and refinded standalone accommodation option designed for guests seeking extra comfort, privacy and flexibility during their stay in Christchurch.

Each cottage is open-plan and fully self contained, featuring a full kitchen, comfortable living and sleeping areas that create a relaxed and easy stay experience.

Set within individually gated grounds, these cottages provide strong sense of privacy while still offering a unique connecting gate between the cottages - ideal for families or groups travelling together who want both independence and the option to stay close.

With space, privacy, and flexible layout options, these cottages are well suited to couples, small groups, and longer stays looking for a more comfortable and elevated cottage experience.



Superior Cottage

Designed for couples and guests seeking a quiet, private escape, our Spa Cottages offer a standalone stay surrounded by gardens and space to unwind. 
Each cottage features it's own outdoor spa area (hot tub), creating a relaxing retreat after a day exploring Christchurch or attending local events.  With a peaceful setting and added privacy, these cottages are ideal for getaways, longer stays, or simply switching off. 

Inside you'll find a comfortable, self contained layout with everything needed for a relaxing stay, along with easy parking and convienient access to the city. 

Please note:  Spa Cottages are standalone and offer more space and privacy than our standard motel units.

Designed with convenient step free access, the cottage includes wheelchair friendly pathways, wider doorways, and a practical open layout.  The bathroom features a walk-in shower with seat and grab rails, plus additional support rails beside the toilet.

A kitchenette with cooktop and microwave make preparing simple meals easy, while share deck provides relaxing outdoor space to enjoy the garden setting.
